Adaptive Structures

Spraying Cellulose

Within the seminar we want to investigate substructures for the application of a cellulose based material. The cellulose material is applied in a spray process, which has a soft or wet consistency and hardens over a longer time. Therefore, a substructure is needed on which the cellulose is applied layer by layer. The central task will be to develop such substructures – sustainable, performative and innovative. Fundamental considerations will be whether these constructions function as classical formwork/shapes, which will later be removed again, or integrated and thus also potentially performative. With this in mind, we will develop a robotic fabrication scenario to produce load-bearing nodes.
