Senior Scientist / Digital Design and Robotics

50% / 20 hours per week, praedoc position

start date: from 15.02.2021 onwards, 4 years

main tasks: research on assigned agendas from structure and design, activity in the i.sd robotics laboratory, teaching and supervision of students, participation in the publication activities of the department; participation in the administration of the department, organization of scientific events and exhibitions

requirements: diploma or master’s degree in architecture; excellent understanding of the interaction between design, structure, materialization and digital design; in-depth knowledge of the architectural discourse; very good knowledge of digital design and manufacturing strategies in various scales up to 1: 1 prototypes; experience in embedding robotics in creative processes, excellent skills in simulation, 3D modeling, visualization and the presentation of architectural designs; the ability to conceptualize and implement research-based teaching in the subject area of ​​“structure and design“ is required; the writing of a dissertation in the field described above is supported (an exposé should be enclosed with the application); high resilience, strong communication and teamwork skills; fluency in spoken and written English is expected; a detailed portfolio in digital form must be enclosed with the application documents.

salary: The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for this position amounts to 1.465 per month (14 times)*. The salary will be higher if you have worked in a similar position before. PhD / Digital Design and Robotics

50-75% / 20-30 hours per week, praedoc position

start date: from 15.02.2021 onwards, 4 years

main tasks: dissertation in the field of structure and design at the interface between digital design and robotics; research on assigned agendas from structure and design; teaching and supervision of students; participation in the publication activities of the department; education and training – active and passive participation in conferences, congresses and relevant training courses; participation in the administration of the department, organization of scientific events and exhibitions

requirements: completed diploma or master’s degree in architecture; excellent knowledge in architectural design and its interaction with structural and constructive aspects, in digital design methods and coding, basic knowledge in creative robotics and their embedding in design processes; international experience in teaching or profession as well as in-depth knowledge of contemporary architectural discourse are desirable, excellent skills in design and digital methods are required – a corresponding portfolio in digital form must be enclosed with the application; fluency in spoken and written English is an absolute requirement; high resilience, strong communication and teamwork skills; A 5-page expose of the desired dissertation in the field of design and robotics must be attached to the application.

salaryThe minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for 20 hours per week amounts to € 1.465 per month (14 times)*. The salary will be increased to € 2.197 for 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed and sent to the Personnel Department.
