PCT – Point Cloud Tectonics

The basic idea of the seminar was to acquire and expand knowledge in the field of robot-assisted manufacturing, focusing on the use of volumetric point clouds to create architectural prototypes. These prototypes are characterized by their volumetric structures and detailed ornaments.

Methods
The course started with workshops to learn modeling and fabrication tools needed to generate the point cloud tectonics. Participants learned innovative design methods such as volumetric point cloud modeling, volumetric point cloud segmentation and volumetric point cloud fabrication. These techniques were used to develop architectural prototypes at different scales – right up to a final point cloud tectonic mockup at a scale of 1:1.
