E2 Bachelor Design Course Trails of [trans] Formation – An Atlas of Alpine Science Hubs
Being part of the vertical studio at the i.sd and its overarching theme of a new „House of Science“ in Tyrol, this semester’s E2 Design Studio will continue its explorations on architectural interventions that challenge the intersection of science and the public.
Engaging with the mountainous landscapes of Tyrol we will propose a series of interdisciplinary spaces that form an Atlas of Alpine Science Hubs.
Focusing on the environmental and socio-cultural challenges of the Tyrolean alpine regions, that reach from global warming, the retreat of glaciers and shifting borders to social movements, seasonal tourism and landscape exploitation, the individual projects will act as strategic catalysts to promote the Science Centre at large and to create an awareness of the importance of science in everyday life.
Relying on the surrounding topography and its natural environment, these volumetric clusters will generate interactive environments for scientific exploration, exhibitions and research along collaboratively curated trails of transformation.
