Tobias Nolte is Professor of Media Architectural Design (mAD) at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Together with Andrew Witt, he is co-founder of Certain Measures (CM), a design studio in Berlin and Boston. Works by Certain Measures have been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Barbican Center London, the HKW and the Futurium in Berlin, among others. CM were finalists of the Zumtobel Group Award 2017 and winners of the international ideas competition Beyond Bauhaus 2019. In 2018, the Centre Pompidou acquired the installation “Mine the Scrap” for its permanent collection.
Previously, Tobias Nolte managed the offices of Gehry Technologies in New York and Paris, where he led a team of architects in the development and implementation of parametric and computational methods in architecture. In the years prior to that, he was a research assistant at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and worked for Preston Scott Cohen, Inc. He taught digital design at the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris and at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Tobias Nolte studied architecture at the TU Berlin and the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles.
